How To - Cloth Pads

Our pads are made with a soft charcoal bamboo inner layer, which safely hugs your delicate skin, cute microfiber fabric on the outside, and waterproof lining inside for maximum absorbency and leakage protection.

Wash your pads before using them for the first time.

To secure your pad, simply wrap the wings around the gusset of your underwear and fasten the snaps underneath. The pretty pattern should be facing away from your body with the soft charcoal bamboo panel facing towards your body.

We recommended wearing snug fitting cotton underwear with your pads, as this will help ensure that your pad stays in close contact with your body and doesn't shift during the day. Because cloth pads do not stick to your underwear the way a disposable pad does, you may need to readjust throughout the day, but wearing snug fitting underwear will help reduce the need for adjustments. Unlike disposables, you can easily readjust by simply pulling your pad forward or backward as needed - no unsticking and re-sticking necessary!

Change your pads every 2-6 hours, or as often as needed. Generally, you’ll need to change your pad about the same frequency as you would disposable pads.

After you change your pad, and before washing, you can either:

1. Store dry in a wetbag. When storing dry, you can leave open or feel free to fold the long sides of the pad towards the middle and use the snaps to hold the pad closed.

2. Store wet in a pail of water. Some women even like to use large cookie jars, mason jars, or Tupperware containers for storing wet. Please note, it’s best to change the water every 24 hours if storing wet to keep it clean and fresh.

When out and about, a travel wetbag or ziploc bag is a great way to store your pads until you get home.

Rinsing your pads in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary), particularly if the pads are heavily saturated.

Stain treatments, such as hydrogen peroxide or OxiClean, can be applied by rinsing a pad under cold water, letting the treatment work for about 30 mins, and then rinsing with cold water before hand-washing or going in the machine.

Use a gentle, natural detergent to wash your pads.

You may use a machine to dry your pads, although hang-drying in direct sunlight can help keep them fresher and last longer.

Avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners when cleaning your pads, as this will decrease the performance and absorbency of the products and is harmful to the environment.

With care, your Femallay Comfy Cloth Pads should last for several years!
